Animal Welfare Policy
In light of the fact that the cycle of life is at the core of our group's business, ITOHAM YONEKYU Group recognizes that efforts to improve animal welfare, along with environmental and human rights issues, is one of the key issues for realizing sustainable production and procurement.
Our group support the Five Freedoms concept set out by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE※) as a guideline for animal welfare and will promote production and procurement activities that respect the life of livestock.
*In 2022, the abbreviation of the common name was changed to "WOAH" (World Organisation for Animal Health), but on our website, etc., it is written as "OIE", which is the abbreviation of the legal name of the World Organization for Animal Health (French: Office International des Epizootie).

We believe that efforts to improve animal welfare also affect the safety and productivity of livestock products, and we conduct livestock management with consideration for the comfort of livestock in accordance with the Animal Welfare Management Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. We will also conduct in-house training on animal welfare, engage in dialogue and discussion with stakeholders, disclose information and strive to improve livestock management and production systems.
We will also cooperate and support our business partners in the supply chain of the livestock industry to improve and promote animal welfare.
